How do you get the non-voters to vote? | Aug 31st 2008

In the 3rd Legislative District 30,000 people who recieved ballots in the primary did not vote. Similar numbers across the county and state. So the question is, why? How do we get them (mainly the conservatives) to take the 5 minutes and vote? They are already registered for crying out loud.

  1. Give us somebody or something worthy of a vote. Somebody like Ron Paul or something like repeal the 17th Amendment.

  2. I think there are at least two problems. One was the early primary date – some folks were probably on vacation. The other may be that many of the Republican base are not happy with McCain and the R Party and just won’t vote for any of them. When out walking with Rep. Ahern, we ran into one guy who was very angry – said he hadn’t voted R since the Iraq war. I think the only thing to do is to try to convince them that it will matter and that we know what the R Party needs to do to regain trust.
